Kingdom Hearts is one, but it’s as much a Square Enix property as it is Disney, and only Disney is named. There are multiple possibilities as to what Disney IP is being worked on. Needless to say, speculation is now running rampant. Giuseppe Crugliano, CEO of developer Play Magic, posted in the Projects section of his LinkedIn account that his studio is working on “Disney’s IP Action Game Remake for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac.” Scroll a little lower and it also says Play Magic is working on an “unannounced 3rd person Action Remake” for the same platforms. Hope springs eternal, however, and it appears that Epic Mickey might be in for a revival. The coffin seemed shut for the series, with the shuttering of developer Junction Point being the final proverbial nail hammered into the lid. Sadly, neither of those two titles did very well from a profit standpoint- Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two released across multiple consoles and only managed roughly half the sales of its predecessor. The game also saw the return of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to the world of Disney (which astonishingly involved the trade of real-life sports broadcaster Al Michaels to NBCUniversal).įollowing its release, Epic Mickey was a success, ultimately leading to sequels on both Wii and Nintendo 3DS. Directed by Warren Spector with developer Junction Point Games, Nintendo even made quite a show of the game by showcasing it during E3 2010. Remember Epic Mickey? The Wii-exclusive platformer was something of a golden child prior to release.
